First Place Scratch - $1,500 Scholarship (based on 60 entries)
First Place Handicap - $500 Scholarship (based on 35 entries)
FORMAT
All entrants will bowl 8 games of SUPER Match-Play
Bowlers will receive a ten pin bonus for EACH bowler he/she defeats in each game
16 bowlers advance to finals; top 40% of handicap field advances to finals
Scratch Division entry fee - $100 Handicap Division entry fee - $75
Bowlers will be seeded for finals based on their 8-game total (including bonus pins)
One out of six entrants will earn scholarship prizes
RULES
The tournament is open to all male and female bowlers, 21 years of age or less as of August 1, 2011. Bowlers may choose to compete in either the scratch or the handicap division. Entry fee is $100 per bowler in the scratch division. Entry fee is $75 per bowler in the handicap division.
There will be at least one scholarship prize awarded for each six participants. Scholarship prizes may be claimed after the student/bowler has completed at least one semester of college with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0. Prizes may also be used for trade schools and/or other continuing education after graduation from high school.
Proper dress and behavior is expected of all participants. Bowlers are not permitted to wear hats, tank tops, clothing with offensive language or graphics, or any apparel which the tournament director feels is inappropriate. Smoking is not permitted at any time.
SUPER MATCH-PLAY QUALIFYING ROUND (begins at 2:00 A.M. on Sunday, March 18, 2012)
All entrants will bowl eight games. In each game, all bowlers will be competing against ALL of the other bowlers in their division. Bowlers will receive a ten pin bonus for each bowler he/she defeats, and a five pin bonus for a tie.
Example: If there are 60 bowlers in the Super Match-Play round, the bowler who rolls the highest score will "win" 59 matches and receive 590 bonus pins, the second highest bowler will receive 580 bonus pins, etc.
The top 16 scratch bowlers and the top 40% of the handicap division entrants will advance to the finals, which will immediately follow the qualifying round.
SCRATCH DIVISION FINALS
Match 1: The sixteen finalists will be paired to form eight one-on-one matches (see below for pairing rules). The winner of each of these matches will advance to Match Two
Match 2: The eight remaining bowlers will be paired to form four one-on-one matches. The winner of each of these matches will advance to Match Three.
Match 3: The four remaining bowlers will be paired to form two one-on-one matches. The winner of each of these matches will advance to the Championship Match.
CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: The two remaining bowlers will bowl the final match to determine the champion.
HANDICAP DIVISION FINALS
The number of entrants in the handicap division will determine the number of finalists. Matches will be set up similar to the scratch division, however byes may be needed in the first round of matches to bring the number of finalists to either EIGHT or FOUR. Any byes that are necessary will be given to the bowlers with the highest 8-game qualifying totals.
MATCH PAIRINGS: In all rounds, the highest seeded remaining bowler will face the lowest seeded bowler remaining in competition. The higher seeded bowler must win one game to win the match and advance to the next match; the lower seeded bowler must win two consecutive games to win the match and advance.
